Africa’s Top Copper Producers Set Sights on Boosting Profits and Trade

Africa’s leading copper-producing countries, including Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), are ramping up efforts to maximize profits and expand trade opportunities. With global demand for copper surging due to its critical role in renewable energy and electric vehicle production, these nations are positioning themselves as key players in the global supply chain.

Zambia and the DRC, which together account for over 70% of Africa’s copper output, are implementing policies to attract foreign investment, improve infrastructure, and enhance local processing capabilities. “We are committed to ensuring that our natural resources benefit our economies and people,” said a Zambian government official.

However, challenges such as regulatory hurdles, environmental concerns, and fluctuating global prices remain. Analysts warn that sustained success will require transparent governance and long-term investment strategies.
