Sony has announced an immediate 15% price increase for PlayStation 5 consoles across European markets, citing “ongoing economic pressures.” Effective April 15, 2025:

• Standard PS5 rises from €499 to €574
• Digital Edition jumps from €399 to €459
• UK prices increase from £449 to £517

The move comes despite record 2024 console sales, with Sony blaming:

✓ 18% increase in logistics expenses
✓ Weak Euro performance (-12% vs Yen since 2023)

“While we’ve absorbed costs for years, current market conditions leave no choice,” said Sony Interactive CEO Jim Ryan. The price hike excludes North America and Japan where Sony maintains pricing “for now.”
